Egypt’s Tourism Minister Advances Global Partnerships at Fitur 2025

Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, strengthened international tourism collaborations during his participation in the 2025 International Tourism Fair (Fitur) in Madrid.

At the Egyptian pavilion, he engaged with key leaders from top travel companies, focusing on increasing tourist arrivals from Spain and Latin America, and promoting Egypt’s unique offerings.

Strategic Discussions with Spanish Tour Operators

Minister Fathy met with executives from Avoris, led by CEO Juan Carlos Gonzalez, and Viajes Carrefour, a prominent name in Spain’s travel market. Discussions centered on expanding tourism to Egypt, leveraging promotional campaigns, and enhancing Egypt’s global appeal.

• Viajes Carrefour Collaboration: With demand for Egyptian tourism surging, Viajes Carrefour reported between 100 and 150 daily bookings to Egypt since January 15. Key discussions included promoting religious tourism projects such as the Grand Revelation Project, St. Catherine City, and the Holy Family Route, which spans historic Christian sites like the Religious Complex in Old Cairo and the Virgin Mary Tree in Matariya.
  • To foster this growth, Viajes Carrefour will organize a February visit for travel agents from Spanish cities. The visit will highlight Egypt’s religious tourism attractions, integrating them into new travel packages to further drive bookings.
• Avoris Partnership: Avoris committed to enhancing promotional efforts for Egypt in Spain, Mexico, and Colombia. The company plans to collaborate with the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion to launch joint marketing campaigns targeting these markets.
  • Additionally, Avoris will organize a Familiarization Trip (Fam Trip) for travel agencies from Mexico and Colombia, introducing them to Egypt’s cultural and historical attractions while utilizing charter flights for convenient access.

Collaborations with Global Tourism Leaders

Beyond Spanish operators, Minister Fathy held discussions with representatives from leading tourism entities, including TUI Group, Explora Traveller & Air Cairo, Civitatis, Iberia Express, and Sama Travel & Tourism. These meetings aim to diversify partnerships, boost charter flights, and enhance Egypt’s visibility as a premier tourist destination.

Boosting Religious Tourism in Egypt

A major focus of the ministry’s strategy is the promotion of Egypt’s religious and spiritual tourism offerings. Projects like the Holy Family Route and St. Catherine City are integral to showcasing Egypt’s rich Christian heritage. These efforts align with the ministry’s long-term goals of expanding tourism infrastructure and catering to niche travel segments.

Driving Tourism from Latin America and Spain

The partnerships forged at Fitur are set to increase tourist arrivals from Spain and Latin American countries such as Mexico and Colombia. These efforts include tailored marketing campaigns, charter flight services, and collaborative promotions, ensuring Egypt remains a top choice for international travelers.
